Small Green Bee-Eater(Merops orientalis Latham) is a green bird tinged with reddish brown on head and neck. A pair of green feathers projects beyond the centre of the tail, like long blunt pins. It has a black bill which is long, slender and curved. As the name suggests, the bird feeds on winged insects like bees, wasps, dragonflies, beetles and termites. It aerially catches the insects and swallow them after sitting on a perch. It is distributed through out the Indian Union, Bangladesh, SriLanka and Pakistan.
