Hoopoe(Upupa epops Linnaeus) is a fawn coloured bird with black and white markings on back, wings and tail. A fan shaped crest extends from its bill to the nape of its neck. Its bill is long, curved and very pointed. Food:Insects,grubs and pupae; hence is beneficial to agriculture. Call: A loud hoop-hoop, which is occasionally tri-syllabic, gives the Hoopoe its name.
