Abstract:Murshidabad and Dhaka had three types of embroideries: the chikankari white cotton thread embroidery; silk embroideries (kashida) earlier done in Murshidabad by Jaina families; and the embroidery on square scarves (rumals) used by Muslims. Dhaka also produced excellent embroiderers who were earlier rafoogars (darners) of the famed Dhaka Jamdani saris and Dhaka muslin.
